Come along to Sydney YIMBY's urbanist drinks. This month we'll be featuring a talk from Dominic Behrens, author of the brand new Grattan Institute report "Wasted Space: Axe Parking Rules to Ease the Housing Crisis" (and Sydney YIMBY Secretary). He'll cover Grattan's new work, the most detailed Australian research to date on how parking rules drive up the cost of housing as well as making our cities less liveable and less sustainable. Afterwards, take the chance to chat with fellow YIMBYs, meet the leadership team and find out how you can make a difference in the fight against the housing crisis. Join us for a talk where Matthew Maltman, Senior Research Economist presents his findings on how NZ managed to increase construction productivity by 8% through upzoning and build twice as many homes per worker. Bringing down construction costs is a very important piece of the puzzle to making bulk apartment construction feasible outside Sydney's most expensive areas.  Followed by our usual casual drinks.

Sydney YIMBY's monthly drinks are on for March at the Aurora! Come along to hear from the leadership team about what we've been up to, chat with fellow YIMBYs and share your ideas for a better Sydney. Join us to speak out in favour of housing affordability and against a regressive new heritage area proposed for Naremburn. Willoughby Council is only on track to deliver 33% of its housing target, and Naremburn itself is losing young people at a rapid clip. Blocking new housing there will only accelerate this trend.
